Well, hello there!
First, I just want to thank you for being here! Somehow, some way you found this page and that is enough to celebrate in itself.
I have introduced myself already on my “About” page, but I’ll do it again just to be safe! My name is Molly and I am the creator behind Sweet Tea Sippin’. I am a senior at Belmont University studying music business in Nashville, Tennessee. Right now my life pretty much revolves around school and music, but I wanted to do more, so why not start a blog? This website is a completely new thing for me, and I cannot even begin to express how excited (and nervous) I am about it!
The inspiration behind Sweet Tea Sippin’ comes from a number of things. Honestly, it mainly comes from being stuck in quarantine this past year and having nothing else to do besides sitting on the front porch and enjoying a cool glass of sweet ice tea! My other sources of inspiration come from my appreciation of Southern culture and Southern history. I know the South gets a bad rep because of its complicated past, but we have come so far and I want people to start seeing it in a new light.
In establishing this brand, I want to clarify some of the promises I am making to you, my readers. As a Southern lifestyle blog, I promise to create content that teaches, inspires, and encourages women to embrace who they are! This content will function as a resource for women and most importantly, Southern women. I promise to make this a welcoming space for women to grow in their views of life in the South. I hope to grow in my own views of life here in Tennessee and of life as a woman, as well. Like Reese Witherspoon says, “I don’t know a weak Southern woman.” We are strong, smart, sassy, and beautiful!
Overall, I want this blog to be encouraging, wholesome, honest, relatable, and helpful. I’m going to talk about family, roles models, traditions, fun places to visit in the South, and many other things! If my content is failing at achieving any of the things listed above, I want y’all to voice that ASAP. This relationship can be a 2-way street and it should be! We can connect with each other, support each other, and lift each other up when we work together. Women are unstoppable and I plan on keeping it that way! As a way to keep the interactions going, I am adding 2 sections to this site that are completely for your input! The first is titled, “Share Your Stories,” and this is a place for you to write about your favorite experiences in the South. If you are from here, new here, or just visiting, I want to hear from you!
The next tab is called, “Life Advice,” and it is going to be just that. I am young and I want to hear y’all’s best tips/hacks for life. We’re in this together, so let’s help each other out!
And there you have it! This has been my long-winded welcome and I hope you are ready to stay awhile. I am so happy to have you!
